Are casino employees declining?

Gambling, is one of the most popular hobbies in the world, with millions of players worldwide. One of the reasons why it is so popular is because it is widely accessible to everyone. If you’re above the legal age limit and are in a country where gambling has been legalised, you will be able to gamble in a matter of minutes.

In the past, people would usually only get the chance to gamble in casino. However, with the launch of online casinos in the mid-1990s, players now get the chance to play their favourite games on the go or from the comfort of their own home.

Blackjack tends to be the most recommended game for new players due to its fairly simple rules. However, if you’re attracted to large jackpots then slot machines are your best bet. There have been multi-million pound jackpots over the years, and you could be one of them if you get lucky on the slots. If you’re a fan of ‘The Matrix’ then there is a slot machine that is currently available to play. Check it out here:

Even though online gambling is more popular than ever, land-based casinos, like the ones at Las Vegas, still remain as popular as ever. The casinos on the ‘Las Vegas Strip’ generated more money last year than they ever have, and this shows no sign of slowing down.

Although revenue might be increasing, the total number of employees is decreasing. The decreasing number of employees is expected considering that certain areas of the casino are becoming more automated, but the most surprising thing is that the number of employees in the ‘food department’ has overtaken those that operate on the gaming floor.

The main reason for this is because casinos having slowly been advertising themselves as attraction resorts rather than solely advertising themselves as casinos. Over time, casinos have been adding more ‘non-gambling’ attractions to their resorts in order to attract more people and increase their revenue.

It’s because of this, casinos hire more staff in the ‘food department’ more than on the casino floor.

With casino resorts having their priorities in other areas, the role of a casino employee has somewhat changed in the past few years. Because of this, this infographic has been created which looks at how casinos deal with their employees in the past few years.
